A person aspiring to become an electrician can seek an entry-level job to get familiar with the challenges involved in the job. The electrician must be able to work swiftly in case of emergencies. The normal working hours for an electrician would be 40 hours, but he will probably have to worth at unearthly hours too. He must have good problem solving skills because time is precious and he will often have to work under pressure. He must also be willing to work in hot, cold and extreme conditions. Once an aspirant starts on an entry-level post, he can go on to become a master electrician and handle a team of electricians under him. He can achieve this after having worked as an electrician for 5-9 years, depending on his skills.

Responsibilities & Skills

The main responsibility of the electrician would be to wire, work and repair electrical equipments and components. He must also be quick enough to identify problems and seek solutions. He makes use of a variety of tools to aid in his job. He must be pretty knowledge about the capacity and quality of wires and advice the owners of any dangers that may arise out of faulty wiring. He must also use his dexterity and knowledge to train and supervise other electricians working under him.
