South Delhi, as the name suggest, forms a southern district in the Nation Capital Region of Delhi. It is located along the banks of the Yamuna river and borders the districts of Faridabad and Gurgaon as well. The district approximately stretches from the Delhi Airport to the Yamuna river.
South Delhi has always been an important administrative centre, the many monuments in the area, including tughlaqabad, mehrauli and siri are found here. There are a multitude of medieval sarais in the area, which are famous for their sights, sounds and colours.
Economically, the area is best known for its many educational institutions, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and the Indian Institute of Technology. It houses offices for many prominent companies, and is very well connected with all the support areas around the national capital region. Being a highly metropolitan area, there are many shopping complexes, malls, cinemas, art galleries etc in the area as well.
