Being part of the legal profession is a glamorous thing and to keep it that way requires a lot of hard work and skill. The job is not as easy it is portrayed in the glitz world; to win it takes sheer hard work and perseverance. The lawyer might represent an individual or a company, he might have to advise them on all legal situations or attend court proceeding and settle disputes within closed doors. The term "lawyer" encompasses a distinct variety of roles within it - a person can specialise in immigration, business/corporate law, bankruptcy law, employee rights law, military law and so on. It depends on each person's aptitude. The outcome of a case handed by the lawyer depends on how meticulously he has conducted his research and gathered evidence. There is a lot of sweat involved in it. The job is not cakewalk and to have strong defence (or accusations) he has to thoroughly involve himself in the job.
The main responsibility of the lawyer is to ensure that he strives through the path of truth and honesty and bring justice to his clients. He should listen to the woes of his clients and advice accordingly. As a lawyer, he is facing a huge responsibility. He is not putting just his reputation or career in the line when he takes on a case, but that of his clients too. Hence, it is his sole duty to study the case in a neutral manner, conduct investigations where points are not clear and refer to previous cases where similar incidents (such as what he is taking) are cited.
