A Scientist is a person specialised in one or more science fields, such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. A Scientist can handle research tasks, on site investigations, laboratory tests and experiments, consultancy, theoretical teaching, etc. A Scientist often works in a team composed of other people trained in the same science field or in another one. Scientists also have to write technical reports on their findings, as well as related general or specialised press publications, and good writing skills are a plus for this job. The studies can be long and complicated, but the interest the Scientists have for their disciplines are usually very high, and they keep learning all along their careers.
A Scientist will often have to manage a team of technical workers or researchers, and is the person in charge of establishing the precise work plan that will get the team to the desired result within the deadline of the project, and in accordance with the financial and functional specifications. In order to be a good Scientists, the following skills are necessary:
- Be curious and interested in how things work in the world, and how you can use what exists to make everyday life easier.
- Have the sense of responsibilities and be able to handle a complex project
- Be able to manage a team of technical workers and/or researchers
