One of the first things that the guest would want to see, apart from a room with a view would be the happy and pleasant disposition of the hotel receptionist. It is not easy to remain happy and pleasant at all times, but that is what she is should be doing. Only a person with positive attitude will be able to generate goodwill among the guests who cross the threshold. A big smile and the friendly attitude that she exudes to the guests will immediately touch their hearts who will quickly feel at ease with their surroundings. Only a person good at multi-tasking will be able to handle the stress of the job. Sometimes the receptionist will have to juggle several things like checking in guests, asking them to fill the form, checking out guests and answering phone calls. A person who can stay calm in such circumstances will certainly be a success at this job.
The main responsibility of the hotel receptionist would be to check into and out of the hotel and arrange for the bellboys/hotel porter to escort the guests to their rooms and make sure their luggage accompany them. The receptionist should be firm with the guests making sure they enter their contact details accurately so there will be no cause for concern later on. The receptionist will have to do her job swiftly and with no room for error.
