Insurance agents are smart, well-dressed people who make people understand the importance of possessing insurance against liabilities and dangers. They need to be sure of themselves and believe in the products they sell. Often they will have to work under pressure, so a person who succumbs to pressure may not make a good career out of insurance. True, an insurance agent needs to be experienced and have thorough knowledge about the products he sells. He should also be able to provide accurate knowledge about the different insurance products so he can talk with prospective clients and talk them into buying. He must also be able to quickly provide information on the type of insurance products that will suit each customer. Only a person dedicated to this job will be able to perform and achieve the target the set by his superior. An insurance agent dedicated to his job can be promoted to insurance manager, zonal head and so on.
The main responsibility of the insurance agent would be to collect client information, analyse their needs and suggest a plan that would encompass their immediate and long-term needs. He must be consistent with his research regarding insurance policies that the company sells. He must be able to motivate and inspire people and educate them on the needs of having insurance. When policies reach their term, the insurance agent must renew them.
